Brew Soul Tea and Spices — single-origin Indian teas and spices for HORECA and export buyers

Why HORECA & Export Buyers Are Choosing Indian Specialty Teas in 2026

Bhupinder Manhas

When we started Brew Soul, the idea was straightforward: source teas and spices we genuinely believed in, and find buyers who cared about the same things we did.

What we did not expect was how quickly that approach would resonate with HORECA operators and export buyers who were tired of dealing with intermediaries and generic blends.

This post is an honest account of what we have learned — and what buyers in hospitality and export are actually looking for right now.

The Conversation Has Changed

A few years ago, most sourcing conversations started and ended with price. Today, the buyers we speak to — hotel F&B managers, specialty retailers, distributors in the UK and UAE — are asking about origin, traceability, and documentation before they ask about cost.

That shift is real. It is being driven by guests and end consumers who want to know what they are drinking and where it came from. For HORECA operators, a tea with a genuine origin story is a menu asset. For export buyers, a supplier with clean documentation is a risk reduction.

What We Source and Why We Source It This Way

At Brew Soul Tea and Spices, we work directly with gardens and cooperatives in Darjeeling, Assam and Kashmir. We are not a trading house pulling from auction lots. Every product we offer — from our Darjeeling teas to our Kashmiri Kehwah and Mongra A+ saffron from Pampore — is sourced with a clear chain of custody.

We do this because it is the only way to stand behind what we sell. And increasingly, it is what buyers require.

A Note on Compliance for Export Buyers

Export documentation is an area where a lot of small Indian suppliers struggle — and we have put real effort into getting it right. FSSAI certification, pesticide residue testing, phytosanitary certificates, and HS code-aligned invoicing are prepared as standard for all our export orders.

If you are importing into the EU, UK, US, or UAE, we understand the requirements for each market and can provide the paperwork your customs process needs. This matters more than most buyers realise until they have had a shipment held at the border.

Private Label — What to Know Before You Start

We work with a number of buyers on private label programs — custom blends, branded packaging, and consistent repeat supply. The most important thing we tell new private label buyers is this: get the product right before you get the packaging right.

Lot consistency, storage conditions, and minimum order flexibility matter more in the long run than the label design. We are happy to walk through all of it before any commitment is made.

If You Are Evaluating Suppliers

We are not the right fit for every buyer — and we would rather say that upfront than waste your time. We work best with buyers who value traceability, want a direct relationship with their supplier, and are building something they care about.

If that sounds like you, we would be glad to have a straightforward conversation about what you need.

Visit us at www.brewsoultea.com or reach out directly. No pressure, no pitch — just an honest discussion about whether we are a good fit.
